MUSIC AS A REFUGE (RADIO STORY FOR THE WORLD/PRX) (SUMMER 2024)
Really nice to spend some time reporting on musicians in Maine! A new profile I produced for THE WORLD/PRX about Hadithi Abdulle. Abdulle taught himself to play the oud as a child in Somalia, a childhood disrupted by civil war. Through the upheaval in his life, including racism in the U.S., this instrument has been his constant, and his refuge. He also taught it at a center for grieving children in Maine.
